David Conner + Associates worked in collaboration with Rowe Architects and Sasaki to design the William R. Hough Hall, Graduate School of Business Administration for the University of Florida. Located at the main entrance to the University and within the University’s Registered Historic District, the project is designed to integrate current technologies in education with the University’s goals for environmental sensitivity and sustainability. Hough Hall, which received LEED GOLD certification, integrates Low Impact Design methodologies within high use pedestrian and vehicular environments. Storm water is directed through pervious pavers into planted bio-filtration ponds adjacent to the building. Critical service and emergency access to the building was carefully provided for with comfortable walkways and seating areas. Indigenous trees and shrubs establish a foundation to the building while entry courtyards adjacent to interior lobbies feature large intimate seating areas within large clusters of bamboo.
